Back to blogging! Forgive me for taking so much time off, but I have lots to share from the past month. We’ll start out with a sampling of beautiful colors and patterns that we found in Italy. So much inspiration!
Peaches on a very bright, very gray day. Check out the wonderful texture and brightness of these peaches against a flat gray sky. I love the selective focus and shapes that are created where the branches go off the edge.
I can’t stop! Here are photos of queen anne’s lace in a whole new perspective… I always avoid this plant because it makes me sneeze, but it is actually so pretty when you really look at it.
Check out these photos from an incredible lotus-filled pond. The flowers were so big and perfect that they almost seemed unreal.

I am really enjoying a change of perspective. I am in Ithaca, NY right now, looking through my camera lens instead of staring at my monitor. I am taking a photography course with my husband at Cornell University. The professor is wonderful, he was my advisor when I was here 11 years ago! Here are a few pictures from a lovely walk before lunch. The snake was very accommodating as I hovered over it with my camera.
I love pattern and color and look for inspiration everywhere, from architectural details to nature. Here are a few springtime photos, taken in April around Watertown and Natick. Spring fascinates me because the colors that appear are almost fluorescent against the gray winter landscape. The green here would almost look unnatural, if it wasn’t nature. Stay tuned, you might see these in a carpet pattern or a wedding invitation motif from J Sherman Studio one day!
