Shelterbelt Stickers

Written By: Julie Categories: Project Details No Comments »

I love sharing projects-in-action!  We just got these photos of Shelterbelt Farm’s poultry stickers.  I think this is as yummy as raw poultry can possibly look!  We love this first product of a loving family business where everything is crafted with love and such high quality.

Shelterbelt Farm Logo

We are incredibly excited to share this new logo project.  Shelterbelt Farm is owned and operated by the Modisher family (a.k.a. Julie’s beloved college roommate Erica, her lovely husband, and their adorable daughter).  Shelterbelt Farm was purchased in 2005 and now, in 2010, is in its first year of official operation.

The design goals?  “Fun, energetic, friendly, smart, respectable, and viable.”  This project, like the entire Shelterbelt Farm endeavor, is extremely thoughtful and personal.

Please enjoy a few images from the logo design development below:

Shelterbelt Farm Logo

The name Shelterbelt refers to the actual band of trees on the land that provide a wind shelter.

We really wanted to incorporate something personal, since this farm is such a labor of love.  We asked Erica to write out Shelterbelt Farm a few times on a slip of paper and mail it to us.  Jenny scanned this in and redrew Erica’s letterforms, cleaning them up in the process.

We tested out several design concepts that played with organic elements, Erica’s handwriting, and the concept of the shelterbelt.

We developed the logos further after discussing the first batch.  The most compelling elements seemed to be the literal shelterbelt of letterforms and the personal touch of Erica’s handwriting.

In the end Jenny added this wonderful little bird, which somehow captures the personality of this venture.

Stay tuned as we design stickers and develop this visual brand further.

HVS Global Brochure

We love working with HVS, a global consulting and services firm that focuses on the hospitality market, to think about alternate ways to display their communication materials.  Check out their brochure displayed here using issuu, an online publishing service.  What do you think of this online display?

Chefs Collaborative Newsletter

More print samples to make our week!  Here are images from Chefs Collaborative’s latest newsletter.  The content is engaging, the design is clean.  What more can you ask for?

Chefs Collaborative Newsletter

We came up with a clever solution to a long list of donor names.  Instead of cramming this in with the articles we designed a smaller insert sheet.  This helps highlight the donor names without distracting from the article content.

And, the best design projects are multi-use.  This newsletter also has a color version designed for online viewing.  Check it out on Chefs Collaborative’s website.

LIFT Invitation

We are always so thrilled to get print samples.  Thank you to our friends at LIFT (aka Colleen) for sharing this sample with us!  We worked with LIFT to design this invitation template and seeing how it looks in real life is such a thrill.  We hope the various events have fabulous turn out!

Celebration Invite

A striking invitation we designed recently.  We loved this collaborative project with two clients.  The challenge? To design an invitation that was warm, friendly, and personal, but not too complicated to assemble and not too far over-the-top with the design.

Invitation

The invitation pieces fit on simple Paper Source enclosures, with additional information sliding into the pocket of the enclosure.

Card Houses 2

We finally have gorgeous photos of New Profit’s Gathering of Leaders. These photos were provided by the very talented Alex Fledderjohn of Tu Multimedia.  We have many more to images share, but here are a few of the custom cards that we designed using the “vocabulary” of this event and photography submitted by New Profit staff.  The structures end up with so much personality.

What happens when you combine compelling content with a team of clients who really care about communicating it effectively?  You end up with a project like this one.

We worked with UK-based Bridges Ventures and US-based The Parthenon Group to design this report.  The report presents a significant amount of information in a clean, organized, and easily accessible format.  Working with two clients on a single report initially seemed daunting, but with clear communications and very committed clients we made this work beautifully.

Read more about this project and download the entire PDF at Bridges Ventures or The Parthenon Group.

Card Houses

Written By: Julie Categories: Project Details No Comments »

This might be one of our favorite projects this year.  I’m very excited to share the cards we designed for New Profit Inc.’s 2010 Gathering of Leaders.

These notched cards were designed for this annual event hosted by New Profit Inc.  There were many goals for this project, and it exceeded all of them.  The cards were designed as interactive centerpieces.  Instead of static centerpieces that would be discarded after the event, these cards were a playful way for people to interact during the event and add color and dimension to the room.

The card content is conceptual and designed for interaction.  Each card has a word on one side and a photo on the other side that represent general vocabulary of the event.  Many of the photos were supplied by New Profit and J Sherman Studio staff.  Building these fun assemblies creates beautiful structures and layered meaning.

Enjoy these photos, taken both at J Sherman Studio and also at the Gathering of Leaders.
