Check out images from New Profit Inc.’s 2008-09 Annual Report.  This is the fifth annual report we have worked on together, and each year it gets better.  This year we opted for a new size, just slightly smaller than letter size.  It was printed by DS Graphics with Westwood Graphics on a lovely uncoated paper stock (Mohawk Beckett).  The report is FSC certified: both the paper and the printer are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

As part of the design process we ran a press proof before the final printing to work on the color adjustments (photos below).  A press proof is a giant test poster that gets printed on the press on the actual paper.  This is important for uncoated paper, since ink can appear darker and duller on an uncoated sheet than it might on a coated sheet.  Not every offset project can justify a press proof, but it was well worth it for this project.  We were able to make smart color adjustments before the final file was sent to print.  In the end, there was less tweaking to the final file and the photos and colors absolutely glow in the final report.

This report features clean, graphical displays of information in lively colors and is designed to feel fresh and optimistic.  We can’t wait to start thinking about 2010!
