When same-sex marriage was legalized in Massachusetts in November 2003, Bernadette Smith had a vision to help gay and lesbian couples create beautiful and meaningful weddings. She and Lisette Garcia launched It’s About Time in early 2004 as the first and only firm specializing in planning legal same-sex weddings. To date, It’s About Time is still leading the way in the U.S.  Although Bernadette’s first idea was to help gay and lesbian couples navigate a historically straight wedding industry, she now helps all couples and clients looking for meticulously produced and designed events that are different from the norm. Bernadette has worked on over 80 weddings and dozens of other events since starting the company.  In November 2009, Bernadette renamed her business to 14 Stories.  Read more about this on our blog post about her logo.
